Sullivans Gulch 1938

Here's a fascinating picture of the Gulch (itself), the area where Lloyd Center is now and the future Sullivan's Gulch neighborhood up to 21st Ave in 1938.  It's from a larger aerial photo on the Vintage Portland website.

That's Benson High at the bottom of the photo and the garden apartments off Irving to the east (right). The golf course, apparently spanning both sides of the creek (did it have a name?), looks quite pastoral.  No blackberry bushes along the banks of the gulch.  Holladay Park is there and the mansion where Holladay Park Plaza is now is visible.
