Central City N/NE Quadrant Project Upcoming Events

The planning process for the Central City North/Northeast Quadrant Project will kick off this month. The City of Portland and ODOT will collaborate on the N/NE Quadrant and I-5 Broadway/Weidler Plans to integrate land use and urban design planning with I-5 freeway planning and improvement needs within the area which covers Lower Albina and the Lloyd District. The N/NE Quadrant Project is an element of the broader Central City 2035 Project to update the 1988 Central City Plan.

UPCOMING EVENTS

Stakeholder Advisory Committee Meetings
Beginning this week and continuing through the fall and winter, a series of Stakeholder Advisory Committee (SAC) meetings will be conducted to generate input on the development of the quadrant plan. All SAC meetings are open to the public and will include a public comment period. The SAC will advise project staff and make recommendations to the Portland City Council and the Director of the Oregon Department Transportation on policy and project proposals resulting from the planning process. The project web page will be updated regularly with meeting dates and times, agendas and meeting minutes. The first two meetings are scheduled as follows:

Meeting 1: September 16, 2010, 5:30 PM to 8:30 PM.
ODOT Region 1 Headquarters, 123 NW Flanders, Portland
Agenda: Introductions, planning context, process & schedule, collaboration principles.
Meeting 2: October 14, 2010, 5:30 PM to 8:30 PM.
ODOT Region 1 Headquarters, 123 NW Flanders, Portland
Agenda: Review of study area history and existing conditions: land use, urban design, transportation.

Community Walks
The North/Northeast Quadrant Project team will host two Community Walks — one in the Lloyd District and the other in the Lower Albina District. The walks will provide an interactive opportunity for participants to learn about the districts and contribute to the vision for the future of the area. Observations and feedback will be recorded and used to help frame issues and identify opportunities and constraints for discussion later in the planning process. All community members are invited to attend the walks. We hope to see you on the streets!
Lloyd District Walk: Saturday Sept. 25, 2010 at 9:30 am
Meet at the Rose Garden Pavilion, near the fountain (NE Multnomah St, near NE Wheeler Ave)
Lower Albina Walk: Wednesday Sept. 29, 2010 at 5:00 pm
Meet in front of Portland Public School Headquarters (N Dixon St & N Larrabee, near N Interstate)
